Hopefully you've said your goodbye's to Windows Server 2003 and other happenings worth noting.
Hi everyone, just a quick update on a few things in the news today.
It's the end for Windows Server 2003
First off, today's the end of the road for Windows Server 2003. Hopefully you've been paying attention to our updates and blog posts and have already retired any old Windows Servers you have. If not, you're now playing with fire because every day that goes by the risk to you and your company increases. Microsoft will no longer be patching any security holes found in the product and they can be fully exploited indefinitely.
Adobe's Flash product is having another really bad week
In other news, it's been a really bad few weeks for Adobe's Flash product. There are currently zero day vulnerabilities in the product that have not been fixed yet. What does that mean? Basically it means that if you use flash (and most everyone does) then you're at risk. Someone with malicious intent can take advantage of the exploit and cause all kinds of problems. Needless to say Flash has been a huge security problem for many years now and this latest run is causing quite a stir in the community with Mozilla blocking Flash in it's Firefox browser and the head of security of Facebook came out calling for an end of life. There's not much we can do now but wait for Adobe to release another patch but it's more important than ever to practice safe browsing habits and make sure your systems are patched as soon as the latest update comes out.Shameless plug, Bellingham IT provides this service automatically for all our Complete Care customers.
