Avast Disrupts the Business Antivirus Market by Offering It's Business Solution for Free

Picture of AvastMost antivirus providers these days have a free offering that they provide to home users. It gets them onto your computer and gives them an opportunity to up sell you their more premium product offerings. Generally, it's a fair trade off because most do provide great basic protection for the always appreciated price of free. Until now however we haven't seen an antivirus provider actually offer that same type of solution for businesses.Working with many different businesses around town, I too often come across environments that have deployed free versions of antivirus software on their systems or worse yet they're using Microsoft's Security Essentials which has long been a horribly rated antivirus solution, see this post for more about that. The problem with using these free solutions in your business is that they are licensed for home use only. Most businesses don't think much about software compliance but it's very important to pay attention to and can be very costly if ignored.Until now businesses that didn't want to add antivirus costs onto their books had to accept the compliance and security risks that come with the before mentioned solutions, but now there's a better option. Avast for Business not only gives you a free license for your workstations and servers, but also provides a central web portal that allows you to check in and monitor all of the machines that you've deployed those free solutions on. This gives you or your IT provider a single pane of glass to check up on and monitor the antivirus states of all your systems in one place.  Very handy indeed! This central console also allows you to create and set the default settings for your Avast clients which allows you to customize your deployment to fit your business needs.  Better yet, the Avast client can be installed on both Windows and Mac providing a security solution for both environments.Of course, it is still a free service, so you can expect that they'll be trying to up sell you on their premium services, but for some businesses that will be more than a fair trade off for what they get in exchange. So if you're a business running an out of date antivirus solution and don't want to pay for a more premium solution, give Avast a look, there's no longer a reason not to bring that part of your security solution up to a more respectable and secure level! If you have questions about your business environment or would like help implementing the free Avast solution, give us a call. We can get you set up and deploy the solution as well as provide you with a free technology consultation to boot! Want Bellingham IT blog updates to hit your email?
